Moldovan Civil Society Organizations promoting organizational transparency receive awards

The National Assistance and Information Center for NGOs in Moldova (CONTACT Center)—with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Moldova Civil Society Strengthening Program (MCSSP) implemented by FHI 360—announced today the winners of the first ever, Gala of Good Practices “Promoting transparency in Moldovan CSOs.” The Gala is a unique national event that publicly recognizes and celebrates outstanding achievements of civil society organizations (CSO) towards establishing good governance and greater transparency.

Nine Moldovan CSOs received awards for promoting organizational transparency: “Eco-Razeni”, Independent Journalism Center (IJC), National Youth Council in Moldova (CNTM), The Regional Assistance and Information Center for NGOs CONTACT – Cahul, “Save life”, “Common Home”, “Social Partnership”, “MilleniuM” Training and Development Institute and “Resonance”.

A total of 19 CSOs applied to receive the organizational transparency award. Applications were assessed by an independent jury of seven volunteers from the media, civil society, and donor communities and scored against previously published criteria: efficient management of resources, good governance practices, transparency and accountability, effective communication, and impact of services provided to the community.

Following the Gala of Good Practices, CONTACT Center will continue encouraging CSOs to apply transparency and accountability principles to their work to ensure that the nonprofit sector in Moldova continues to become stronger and more responsive to citizens’ needs.
